presented as part of Consuming Places

What models did you look at while developing this project?

The provision of East Wahdat project established lower- income group housing on the models of:
  • Maximum cost recovery of the project directly from project beneficiaries.
  • Reducing planning and building standard.
  • Reducing subsidies and directing them, so they support project goals.
  • Using cross subsidy housing solutions for the low-income group.
  • The establishment of an efficient and active department (UDD), which deals with such a project and has developed considerable technical expertise in the field of low-income housing.
  • Preparation of documentation, procedures and monitoring surveys to ensure replicability of the project.
